About Cognitive Therapy

I have been offering people Cognitive Therapy since 1994. Cognitive therapy is a powerful and efficient type of therapy (or counselling), used to help people with emotional and behavioural problems. I have been offering a particular style of cognitive therapy known as REBT and have helped many people with a variety of issues. Compared to other styles of therapy, REBT can help people in as little as two sessions but on average people have 8 sessions.

The goal of therapy is to not only help you get over your problems, but ls to reduce the likely hood of them returning. This is achieved by helping you change the thinking that is causing your problems. If your thinking changes to a more rational view point, you will become more robust as person and live a better life

Brief History

In 1955 A. Ellis formulated Rational Emotive Therapy (RET). In the mid 90s he renamed it REBT. In the early 60s A. Beck developed CBT which is now the phrase more commonly used. In fact, however, there are some significant differences between REBT and CBT, in that REBT tends to be more focused.
